GeraldStrainEagle.jpg (69110 bytes) Gerald Strain as a very serious looking young Eagle Scout.  This was taken right after receiving his Eagle while in Starkville's Troop 14.  After serving as JASM in T14, Gerald served T27 as ASM, and then formed the brand new T33, and served from 1952-1954 as Scoutmaster. Mr. Strain is a Vigil member of the OA.
GeraldStrainPro.jpg (47167 bytes) With a professional scouting career that began in Greenwood, Miss. in 1956, Mr. Strain has served as a Scout Executive in Memphis, Tenn., Jonesboro, Ark., and Amarillo, Tex.  Mr. Strain retired after 35 years of service to scouting.
T14small.JPG (163342 bytes) Group photo of Troop 14, taken Feb. 1, 1949.  Gerald Strain is in the second row, and Evans Lampkin (future T33 scout) is also in the photo.  Troop 33 had several scouts who had previously been in other troops, which is not unusual when a new unit is formed.
StrainLampkin1951.JPG (86584 bytes) Gerald Strain and Evans Lampkin in 1951.  Evans' son Michael earned his Eagle Scout in T45 in the early 1980's, designed the troop logo (The Greybeard) which adorned many a t-shirt and even the troop bus.  Michael still supports scouting, serving his local Texas council and still designing artwork for T45's new troop trailer.
